Based in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, ActNow Foundation (ANF)  is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit company that provides a platform for ethnically and racially diverse filmmakers, producers, writers & actors, whose productions focus on the full range of African-American & African experiences. Through the New Voices in Black Cinema
Film Festival and other events,ActNow operates in an environment of progressive artistic collaboration, is accepting and welcoming of transition and change, all the while remaining true to its roots and commitment to African-American and Latino cultural development.

Since 2005, ActNow has produced and hosted a variety of film and theater events featuring works from the African and Latino diasporas.  These events include the Short Film Collective, the New Voices in Black Cinema Festival, A Taste of  Fort Greene, Monologue Jams and the New Voices in Theater Festival.

The ANF offices and many of its programs are executed in downtown Brooklyn and surrounding neighborhoods, whose histories exemplify  generations of artists living and working within them.  While the area currently is becoming more accessible and culturally- integrated with growing incomes, many of ActNow’s artists maintain relatively low to middle incomes.  ANF continues to seek creative ways to stay true to its roots and committed to providing a venue for our artists to tell their unique stories and find ways to thrive financially as artists.
